Note by Laura Reinert

Elena was born in 1959 in Turin,Italy. She was lucky to spend her youth in her birthplace where she enjoyed an environment rich in architecture, surrounded by art and beauty.
Once settled in Istanbul, in 2005, she decided to explore painting arts, choosing oil painting to best represent the emotions she experienced from the colors of the Bosphorous, the tulips and the wonderful Istanbul sky. Later, in London, she turned to watercolor as her favorite technique.
Elena Guarienti has travelled and lived in several countries, from Istanbul to China. In this millennial country Elena certainly developed great inspiration to create her works, which show tranquility, beauty and subtlety for landscapes and nature. Her diaphanous and joyful watercolors transport us to English landscapes and dramatic Scottish skies and tell us of her life and experiences in various corners of the world.

Her watercolor paintings at times convey happiness and nostalgia as Elena paints with her heart and can portray her inner being in her works with penetrating totality. Through mastery of the technique, Elena depicts in her works the perturbations and emotions of her soul, the torments of which can be seen in her landscapes, in the walls and the trees she painted in the various phases of her artistic life. Once she overcame her shyness, Elena succeeded in communicating through her art in a delicate and gentle manner.
In recent watercolor works her architectural themes show us ancient buildings always immersed in nature; warm colors creating a river or a forest. Winter sceneries can also be found, telling stories of loneliness and nostalgia. In yet others of her watercolors, we might spot small human silhouettes in vivid colors surrounded by the natural richness of the different seasons. In her marine themes abandoned boats appear in a river or sea, inspiring calmness and tranquility of the soul.

Recently Elena turned to painting realist portraits which are highly expressive, while gentle and warm, using color and psychology to achieve a reliable portrait.
Throughout her artistic path, with great enthusiasm and dedication, Elena shared her time charitable activities in Istanbul as well as in London and Milan.
Elena Guarienti has attended a number of courses in oil and watercolor painting in Istanbul, Milan, London and Turin.
She exhibited her works in various exhibitions: Sainte Pulcherie in Istanbul; Galleria d’Arte in Turin, Biblioteca Musicale in Turin; Palazzo d’Angennes in Villarbasse; Ex scuderie Villa Tesoriera in Torino, among others.
